Your baby this week
You're halfway there — can you believe it? This week's ultrasound is your baby's chance to show off — the doctor will check the brain, heart, spine, kidneys, and everything else. Your baby is developing a regular sleep-wake cycle now (the active times may not match yours!). Your baby is making its first stool inside the intestines. And you might find out if your baby is a boy or a girl this week if you'd like to know — or keep it as a surprise!
Your body this week
You're at the halfway point — 20 weeks down, 20 to go! Your uterus is at belly button level. The TIFFA scan (Targeted Imaging For Fetal Anomalies) is typically done this week — this is the big one. You may feel strong kicks, rolls, and hiccups. Heartburn may increase as your growing uterus pushes everything upward. Your belly is unmistakably pregnant now. You're doing amazing.

What’s normal this week
Most of what you’re feeling is your body doing exactly what it should — the everyday symptoms don’t need a call. The signs below are the rare exceptions: noticing one doesn’t mean something’s wrong, just that it’s worth a quick check.
When to call your doctor
- Any anomalies flagged on scan (doctor will discuss in detail)
- Reduced fetal movement if you've been feeling regular kicks
- Severe heartburn that doesn't respond to diet changes
