Your baby this week
Your baby is filling out! The skin is becoming less wrinkly as fat builds up underneath. Here's something lovely — if you press on your belly, your baby might push back, because your baby responds to your touch now. The nostrils are starting to open (they've been plugged until now). The startle reflex is developing — your baby jumps at loud sounds! The nervous system is getting more sophisticated every day.
Your body this week
Hemorrhoids may appear or worsen from increased pressure on pelvic veins — fiber and water are your friends. Snoring may start as nasal passages swell. Your hands may feel tingly (pregnancy carpal tunnel). Colostrum — your first milk — may start leaking from your breasts. All normal, all temporary. Your body is preparing for something wonderful.

What’s normal this week
Most of what you’re feeling is your body doing exactly what it should — the everyday symptoms don’t need a call. The signs below are the rare exceptions: noticing one doesn’t mean something’s wrong, just that it’s worth a quick check.
When to call your doctor
- Hemorrhoid bleeding that is heavy or persistent
- Numbness or tingling that is severe
- Decreased fetal movement
